“Where is this going?”
I sat and watch the Miami- Oklahoma game, The U versus powerhouse “Boomer Sooner.” These are two team people love to hate. After watching this game, it made me bring in some insight on the U and what Jacory Harris had cut in his head “U-SWAG.” In a sense, the college team is right. Before those pesky USC Trojans, THE Ohio State, Big Blue, The Swamp Machine in Florida and “Hook’em” Texas Longhorns started talking smack about them being the top dog, everybody was so traditional. Miami University came with Howard Schellenberger and took on the status as “The pimp of college football.” They would intimidate you, lure you, tell you what they are going to do, and brag about it the next day with their friends. The U was the cocky college football team you love to hate, somewhat like the Cowboys, Yankees, and Knicks. The part was that the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s was all U, all the time. The list just shows you the swag of the U with household names like Jim Kelly, Bernie Kosar, Jerome Brown, Michael Irvin, Jimmy Johnson, Vinny Testeverde, Cortez Kennedy, Warren Sapp, Ray Lewis, Andre Johnson, Devin Hester, Russell Maryland, Sean Taylor, Ken Dorsey, Edgerian James, Clinton Portis, Willis MaGahee, Dewayne “The Rock” Johnson (Sorry, being a big fan of wrestling I had to put that in there), and numerous alumni that won multiple championships and so many bowl game.
So what is the difference between then and now?
Well the anticipated debut of Kyle Wright and Brock Berlin were like the college version of the NFL busts, all hype- no action. Not to mention that 2005-2007 seasons was more like when the U in the 70s. So Randy Shannon had to come in, put it back in line and begin the process of bringing the swag back in the U. So far that 2008 season was a wake up call, and 2009 is looking great to say that are bringing that “swag back”
So far can it go?
Real far! After going 3-1 against Florida State, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, and Oklahoma, all ranked teams, there schedule is a breeze and play all the way to an ACC championship game (unless Virginia Tech go undefeated in ACC play). Here is there schedule.

One two threats I see here is UCF who defeated Florida State and at Chapel Hill against North Carolina with ex-U head Butch Davis.
Other than that, the SWAG is back at the U. Good luck to the Hurricanes.
P.S. I have to upload Ed Reed motivational halftime speech. He speaks like he plays.
