I always check out Average’s “Name That Sample” post because of my love for the digging in crates of old school music that I have checked out on a hit that either I recognized and at times never heard until he throws it in there. Canadian rapper Drake is being sued for copyright infringement by Playboy Enterprises over allegations that his breakout smash "Best I Ever Had" samples a '70s hit owned by the company.
In a lawsuit filed June 24, Playboy alleges that Drake's mixtape hit contains Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds' 1975 soft-rock tune, "Fallin' in Love."
The suit names Drake -- whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham -- as well as Cash Money Records and Universal Music Group.
Okay the parties involved have a partially and full responsibility about this issue.
For Drake:He is the man with the name on the track, and he does not know better about people jacking beat without paying royalties. Just because you did a mixtape with 9th Wonder hitting a serious rendition sample of Anita Baker’s “Sweet Love,” does not mean you can just go all out and do it mainstream without permission. Still, when you are in the game, you should not follow the mistakes of other artist who started big. Examples include Robbie Van Winkle aka Vanilla Ice song “Ice Ice Baby” ties toward popular rock group Queen and their song “Under Pressure.”
For Cash Money Records: This is good example of cheating your way in the game can catch up to you. You can rob some people for royalties and sorts but not everybody. Brian “Baby” Williams have been cheating producers and original song artists for a long time. There are many producers who either complained, don’t want to deal with them, and are suing the record company for money.
For Universal Records: Plain and simple, they don’t care. People and sub-record companies like Drake and Cash Records are like buses, they come and go.
Track records about artists who have got caught sampling without permission and lost the settlement have not really came back from their career fiasco. Let’s hope Drake can learn a lesson from that.

I don’t know a guy like that with major ties to the 30 year-game of the crack epidemic still may have some major players that know him as legendary. For him to do what he did was a safe warning for William Roberts aka Rick Ross. Come to think about, a guy like Ricky Ross has nothing to lose. I mean the following are thing he could have done:
He could have just made him disappear without notice.
He could have ruined his life, his family life, his friends’ life, his kids’ life, and his grandkids life.
………………but that is why the judicial system is something else. I know that if he have a good lawyer he can call it "Identity Theft." It is the same thing as someone using your name to get a car.

I always said that Lil Boosie reminds of that young kid that you knew when they grew up he could make lemons out lemonade but also can either impact the state of anything just because you know he is going to tell it like it is, whether you like it or not. The conception about Boosie is that the while the cRapper artist is more like art imitating life or even life imitating art, Boosie was the real deal. Bossie was the reason that from the Southwest Mississippi to Baton Rouge, every little kid who love hip hop had something to represent for. Those little hip hop heads from that area in Mississippi didn’t care for David Banner because he did not relate to what was people talking about in day to day life. They were caring for Lil Boosie because he talked and walked the line of an everyday person in those areas where there is no hope but to act wild and be strapped.
….but that line is shown now how Lil Boosie has become public enemy No. 1 to the State of Lousiana.
In 2009, Torrance “Lil Boosie” Hatch was sentenced to 10 years in prison on gun and drug possession charges. He began serving that sentence at Dixon Correctional Institute(DCI) in Jackson, Louisiana. On Thursday, Boosie was indicted on a first-degree murder charge. He was transported from DCI to Louisiana State Police headquarters and thereafter, was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Boosie claimed his innocence as reporters asked him if he was involved in the murder for hire scheme of a Baton Rouge man. The rapper is accused of paying a man to kill 35-year old Terry Boyd, who was shot to death through a window while inside of his home at 16837 Vermillion Drive on October 21, 2009.

Although Outkast had the South on lock being that Atlanta became the new hot spot, Suave House had the whole South on lock along with Rap-A-Lot records and Jive’s UGK.Eightball and MJG’s “Coming Out Hard” is still a bonafide classic album in the south, “Lay It Down” was the South’s national anthem, Tela’s “Sho Nuff” is the Nupes national strolling athem, and everybody learn the game in their classic song “Pimps.” Speaking of Memphis hip-hop, how the executives leave out the ONLY hip-hop group with an Oscar, Three-Six-Mafia. (These teachers today are really something serious (and not in a good way). Just last week I gave a feel good post about a teacher retiring after 63 years and now I have to talk about another teacher of the year in a bad light. When will teachers learn that they are the one who mold the generation next to us.)
Now during my time in school, I have had crushes on my teachers (….well just one, the rest of the teachers were seriously not my type. I mean they were old, married, or just plain ugly.) , but I will never would have encountered having a lil fling with my teacher. The two reason is that although I was a teenager, I would have thought that is low and she is thirsty where no man have gave it to her (Note: I started dating older women after high school, not during.) and being a honor roll student in high school 12 out of 13 times with a 3.56 GPA, I would never jeopardize my future of going to a nice college like that. I do thank God that our class never had to encounter that due to the fact that we were country folks and we, as children and adults, have morals. These teachers today are possibly a little older or younger than me. So when I heard this in the news, old or not, I just had to evaluate this the best way I can.
Shiloh High School’s Teacher of the Year resigned last month after she admitted she had been involved in a sexual relationship with a student, Gwinnett County Public Schools officials said Thursday.
Language arts teacher Keenon Aampay Hall, who began working at Shiloh in 2005, submitted her resignation letter April 20, a day after Gwinnett County Public Schools launched an internal investigation into a student’s claim that Hall lowered his grade after he refused to impregnate her, according to documents provided Thursday to the Post. Hall’s letter said she resigned for medical reasons, school district spokesman Jorge Quintana said.
The 18-year-old student said the relationship began in October, when he was 17, and lasted until the day before spring break, the documents show. Hall, however, wrote that the “consenual (sic) relationship” took place from February to March.
In his statement, the student wrote the relationship began in October when he stayed after school to receive extra help from Hall.
“On that day she began touching me on my leg, and then asked me when I was gonna let her molest me,” the student wrote. “I said never and we begun to laugh, then she asked me agin (sic) this time handing me a phone number and asked me to call her.” The following week, the student wrote, Hall paid for a cab to bring him to a hotel, where they had sex.
…..Okay she lives in Atlanta, you are telling me out of all those guys out there……..

Stories like this one is the reason when my uncle asked me “How come you never moved to Atlanta when some of your hometown people move there;” I just shrug and say “Just did not want to move there.” I wouldn’t know who is worse off the teacher or the student. I have to look at it through both crystal balls.
She will always have that on her record and that is like a serious cloud in the sky. She won’t be going to teach at a prestigious school anytime soon. (Everybody knows once you did something wrong in the school system and it is on the national news, that’s a wrap.)
He could end up being a bum after high school, because for black males, high school and college are so different it doesn’t make sense. That will make her look like she has a lack of taste in men.
She is already looking thirsty so guys are going to pursue her very different.
I hope she can find another teaching job because she seems like she has a promising calling, but stuff like this don’t go away easy.

Yesterday I gave you the boom of the Class of 2005. Now today we are going to talk about the Who’s Who of the NBA Draft Class of 2005: The Busts
The UNC 4 (Marvin Williams, Raymond Felton, Sean May, Rashad McCants)- (picks 2nd, 5th, 13th, and 14th) I, The Smoking Ace, with along with many others thought that this Quad will go on dominate like they were in college.
….and that is when I heard that “Thud” because they had everybody picking up their faces.
Sean May can’t seem to get his game right, averaging 7 points and 4 rebounds respectively. Rashad McCants (10 points/ 2 rebounds) will only be known for dating the Big Kardashian and losing her to Lamar Odom (R U Serious?). Raymond Felton is an okay player (13.3 points/ 6 assists) , but more suited for a backup role after seeing him get handled by Jameer Nelson and Jason “Old White Chocolate” Williams. Marvin Williams is a good player, but being that he was picked 2nd in that Draft behind both Chris Paul and Deron Williams will have people calling him the Sam Bowie of the 2005 Draft.
Gerald Green – Being the first of the last time high schoolers can come out, Gerald Green was suppose to be in comparison to Tracy McGrady, but that did not panned out. The only highlight of his career was winning the Slam Dunk Competition in 2007. Then again he is an answer to stepping stone of another high schooler turned pro, Kevin Garnett, career by being traded for him and other players for the Celtics to win a NBA Championship.
Juilus Hodge – You can really say bust when you only played 2.4 minutes and barely averaging scoring a point (.9).
Joey Graham – You can also say bust when you are being replace after 5 games of being a starter. Just never made it back after that 5th game.

I know Sunday that we celebrated Mother’s Day; but wow two days after we celebrated a time for our mother, Robert Fultz wanted to treat his mother like a punching bag. The consequence he got from that not only from the police, but his own mother.
Robert Fultz was hitting his mother in the face, so she got a gun and shot him in the buttocks, Jackson Police Department spokesman Officer Joseph Daughtry said.
Now she is one of them ole’ school moms. You know the ones that will whip that ass with anything and if you hit her, she will make sure that her presence is felt with any piece of equipment. I am guessing that the gun was the closest so she had to make him feel what she was talking about.
As for this guy, he is going to get his hole opened up embarrass in jail. One, people that know how to jail don’t take to kindly to women abusers. You know they are going to find out that it was his mother is just going to tick them off. I hope he knows how to jail because if he doesn’t, Bubba and Deebo will be fighting over their new girlfriend.

One day, the Queen and I were having dinner at her place.We got on the discussion on black men and what I as a black man do not find very attractive because she wanted to know my limits. I told her two things in particular that was pet peeves to me
1. 1.I don’t like my sex life out in the streets, single or not.

How would you feel if somebody aired out something you did on video?
Well today I could chime in on that dead horse about single black women thing, but I vow to myself I am not, If you want to know my views on the single black woman dilema, click here and here. I have something else I really want to write about and this one is uneasy for me the following two reasons (I will put these in MLK quotes):
1.Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see (MLK)
2.Never succumb to the temptation of bitterness.(MLK)
With that being said , I know that there are very few people that have heard of the name Richard Barrett and if you don’t know him I will just give you a brief description of him.
Richard Barrett was a lawyer, author and founder and leader of the National White Supremacist Organization. According to the Anti-Defamation League, Barrett was able to attract small numbers of like-kind.
Barrett was often seen at rallies around the nation, touting his nationalist movement and ideology. The former Vietnam veteran was labeled everything from a rising star to a troublemaker. He was in skirmishes, arrested multiple times, and was the suer and suee numerous times in race-relations cases.
The pro-white Barrett never changed his segregationist ways, was never apologetic for his actions, and frequently sought the spotlight. (click here)
And for all that he has done he was stabbed and burned to death in his property in Pearl. Now everybody thinking “Maybe he was killed by his own,” but the shocker (or not) of who killed him was even uneasy because it was a young black man that came fresh out of prison who killed him

…..But hold on, hear is where the mystery part of this comes in.
According to Lewis, the 22-year-old was angry over money. He said his stepson was hired to do lawn work at Barrett's home in Utica on Wednesday.
The two traveled the roughly hour-long trip each way together. After six hours of work, Lewis said Barrett paid McGee $26.
"He thought he was at least going to get $60 or $70 for the work he did. He was kind of upset for $26," said Lewis.
Family and neighbors did not know what kind of relationship Barrett and McGee had, but they call it odd.
That is something I kept stratching my head for because of the following:
1.Out of All the people he chose, why this young black man who was fresh out of prison?
2.Why he could not find any of his Caucasian-American friends to help him out on this?
That is the mystery of Richard Barrett that puzzle not only people within the community who at one-time, saw the hatred of his demeanor toward African Americans in the public. But I do agree with what Dan Hall, chief consultant of Mission Mississippi and Charles Evers, Civil Rights leader, said.
Dan Hall said the following:
"What (Barrett) stands for was hate and was wrong," Hall said. "That he was murdered is no more right than someone who would be against abortion murdering an abortionist. That is not something we should take into our own hands. We exist to be able to have conversations in times like this. This is a great opportunity for Mission Mississippi. We don't shy away from it. We don't take stands, as much as we create opportunity for Mississippi."
Evers said this:
"I hate to know he was murdered, No. 1, and No. 2, when you got to know Richard, he was not that type of guy," Evers said. "I hated when he talked all that stuff. He said to me once, 'I don't hate negroes. I just don't believe in mixing."
You know there comes a time where something that soothe you down from a long day of work ends up not coming on anymore. I miss my ESPN the radio because it gets me through the morning and evening drive with no remorse. I had to listen to my second alternative to ease the pain, National Public Radio. The news that broke out on NPR had me stretching my head.
A radical Muslim group has warned the creators of South Park that they could face violent retribution for depicting the prophet Muhammad in a bear suit during last week's episode.
The website RevolutionMuslim.com has since been taken down, but a cached version shows the message to South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The article's author, Abu Talhah Al-Amrikee of New York, said the men "outright insulted" the prophet.
The posting showed a gruesome picture of Theo Van Gogh, a Dutch filmmaker who was shot and stabbed to death in an Amsterdam street in 2004 by a fanatic angered by his film about Muslim women. The film was written by a Muslim woman who rejected the Prophet Muhammad as a guide for today's morality.
"We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show," Al-Amrikee wrote. "This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them."
The posting listed the addresses of Comedy Central's New York office and Parker and Stone's California production office. It also linked to a Huffington Post article that described a Colorado retreat owned by the two men.
CNN, which first reported the posting, said the New York-based website is known for postings in support of Osama bin Laden and jihad, or holy war, against the West.
Al-Amrikee told The Associated Press in a phone call Wednesday that the posting was made to raise awareness of the issue and to see that it does not happen again. Asked if Parker and Stone should feel threatened by it, he said "they should feel threatened by what they did."
He said he was disappointed that publicity about the posting focused more on the potential danger to the producers but admitted, "I could shoulder some blame" for it.
He said he "can't answer that legally" when asked if his group favored jihad. But he praised bin Laden.
"We look up to him and admire him for the sacrifices he has given for the religion," he said.
I have one thing to say,
“Are you serious?”
Since when do cartoons make people get so riled up? I mean come on this is cartoon. A comedy cartoon as a matter of fact. Cartoons are like political satires of the world. They are supposed to make us laugh, but as always there are people who don’t find cartoons character very amusing.
I know we had minstrel show cartoon in the early 30s-60s; but come on, blacks have gotten over that. I still remember that Bugs Bunny cartoon where at the end they put on black face and singing Dixie. I never got it when I was because I was a kid. When I was older I was more like, “Why they never played that end.” My father told me that it was a stereotype of painting blackface. I, still looking dumbfounded and not caring was like, “It is not that serious. It is just a cartoon. Plus that was years back.”Then you have black people complaining over a cartoon. I don’t see them complaining about Foxxy Love on Drawn Together who stereotype black women as sassy; or Riley from the Boondocks (My favorite show), which shows every negative stereotype of what black kids are portraying these days (Riley is still my favorite character). We take it as face value and say that is comedy which it is. No harm, no foul. So why does people take cartoon creators so serious. That is an imagination of comedy, not to be taken. So I guess this year I can put Sarah Palin and a radical Muslim group together because it seems like they actually take cartoon characters seriously.
…..But Tea Party conservatives hate to have something in common with Muslim extremist since they think that the President is a Muslim. Don’t cha know?
